Dear Mr~ Cantero:
I am wr1tlng 10 support of your concept for Seniors Helping
Seniors affordable housing development.
In the case of elderly Santa Monica homeowners who don't have
chlldren ~ho inherit their property# there may be interest in
donating the property to a tax exempt entity. In such a case, a
single-family home could easily be converted to house four or
five seniors capable of independent living. The residents would
have the1r own bedrooms and share the living room# dining room
and kitchen facilities.
It is conceivable that the original owner would 11ve in the home
rent free and could receive a stlpend. Arrangements could also
be made for the ongoing care of the owner in the event they are
no longer capable of living in a non-institut1onal settlng.
If you come across a home owner who wishes to participate in your
Seniors Helping Seniors program, feel free to contact Community
Corporation for assistance.
Sincerely,
)
