Introduction
Th1.S report transm1.ts a recommendat1.on of the Comm1.ssion on Older Amerlcans
regardlng any freeze ln Social Security and Medlcare payment.
Background
The Commiss1.on on Older Amer1.cans met in regular sesalon on January 16,
1985.
At thlS meetlng, Soclal Securlty and Med1.care payment for senior
C1.t1.zens was discussed.
Based upon this d1.SCUSS1on, the fo110w1.ng mot1.on
was made:
Cornmiss1.oner Dan Cohen moved that the Commlssion on Older Amerlcans go on
record as opposing any freeze in Social Security and Med1.care payment to
help the budget deficlt Slnce l.t 1S not a part of the budget deficit and
that copies of 1t be sent to our Congressmen and Senators, and that we ask
the Clty Councll to go on record taklng the same posltlon.
The mot1.on was
seconded by COmm1.SS10ner Rosen and carr1.ed unan1.mously.
Recommendation
Staff has no recomrnendatlon at thlS tlme.
