ThlS report transmIts for flrst readlng an ordlnance
settlng the term for the Metropolltan Water DIstrlct Repre-
sentatlve at four years.
BACKGROUND
Although there IS presently an ordlnance settIng the
term of the CIty'S representatlve at four years, It 15 not
recognlze~ by the Distrlct. The Clty'S present ordlnance does
not comply with the DistrIct Act requlrement that the four
year term commence on January 1 of an odd-numbered year and
on December 31 of an even-numbered year. ThlS ordlnance amends
the eXIstlng ordInance to Include the oMItted provlslon.
ALTERNATIVES
The Councll May accept, reJect or amend the proposed ordlnance.

NOTICE OF VACA~CY
CITY OF SANTA ~ONICA REPRESEKTATIVE
TO ~~TER DISTRICT
ApplIcations are being accepted by the City Clerk for a
vacancy on the MetropolItan Water District Board of Directors
for a term endIng December 31, 1984. The Dlrector shall serve
without compensation for serVIces as such, but shall recelve
reimbursement for necessary traveling and other expenses when
on official duty out of the CIty on order of the Council.
The regular meeting of the Board LS held at 10:30 A.~. on the
second Tuesday of each month. Committee meetIngs are scheduled
on either Friday or Monday preceeding the regular meetIng at
varIOUS tImes between the hours of 9:00 A. M. and 1:00 P.M.
_~L meetIngs are held at the ~IDniClpal Water Dlstrlct offIce at 1111
Sunset Boulevard Los "~geles.
All ellglble electors are invited to apply regardless of race,
sex, religion, marlta1 status, natIonal origIn or ancestry.
Appointment will be ~ade at an open Council meeting to be held
October 14, 1980.
Application forms are avallable by phone or in person at the
CIty Clerk's Office, 1685 ~ain Street, Santa MonIca (phone
393-9973, Ext. 211).
