SUBJECT:
Recommendations for Appointments to fill Vacancies on
the Board of Directors of the Santa Monica Arts
Foundation
INTRODUCTION
This report recommends that Council approve the appointments of
eleven persons to fill vacancies on the Board of Directors of the
Santa Monica Arts Foundation.
BACKGROUND
At its meeting on March 26, 1985, Council approved several amend-
ments to the Bylaws of the Santa Monica Arts Foundation. One of
these amendments increased the number of Directors from "nine" to
"between nine and fifteen." Subsequent to the passage of this
amendment, several members of the Board of Directors have re-
signed. These persons included Arts Commissioner Max Benavidez,
Arts commissioner Herbert Kendall, Elyse Grinstein, william Mor-
tensen, and Franklin Schaffner. Due to these resignations and
the change in bylaws, a maximum of eleven vacancies currently
exists on the Arts Foundation1s Board of Directors.
