SUBJECT: Appointments to Arts Foundation Board of Directors
Introduction
This report recommends that the City Council appoint Bruria
Finkel, Connie Jenkins and Loveday Raben to the Board of
Directors of the Arts Foundation.
Background
The Arts Foundation Bylaws allow twenty-one board members.
Currently the Foundation Board has thirteen members. At the
Foundation meeting of November 22, 1988 a nominating Committee
chaired by Jennifer Diener recommended Bruria Finkel, Connie
Jenkins and Loveday Raben be appointed to the Board because all
three nominees are currently making valuable contributions to the
development of SMARTS. Bruria Finkel is an effective arts
advocate, Loveday Raben has spearheaded "Eat for Art" fundraising
volunteers for three years and Connie Jenkins has linked the
Foundation with the "Arts-in-Education" community. The
Foundation Board unanimously approved the nominating committee's
recommendation at its meeting of November 22, 1988. Arts
Foundation by-laws mandate that the Arts commission approve new

board meEbers. At its meeting of December 12, 1988 the Arts
commission endorsed these nominations by a vote of 6-3.
Fiscal and Budgetary Impact
None
Recommendation
The Arts Commission recommends Bruria Finkel, connie Jenkins and
Loveday Raben be appointed by city Council to the Board of
Directors of the Arts Foundation.
