SUBJECT: Resolution Amending Resolution on
Task Forces on Development
At its meeting on July 21, 1981, the City Council
directed the C1ty Attorney to prepare a resolution estab11sh-
1ng a Task Force on the Arts. In response to this directive,
the accompanying resolution 1S presented for C1ty CounC1l
consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the accompanying
resolution be adopted.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF" THE. CITY OP SANTA MONICA
ESTABLISHING A TASK FORCE ON THE ARTS.
WHEREAS, the C~ty of Santa Mon~ca ~s home to numerous
persons involved in the creation of works of art; and
WHEREAS, the entire community would benefit from the
~ncreased promotion of the arts within the CLtYi and
WHEREAS, the C~ty Council des~res that a task force of
citizens with various perspectives en the arts st~dy the
questLon of ~~e Cityfs role in promoting the creatlon of wor~s
of art within the CitYr
NOW, THEREPOREr THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF SANTA
M.ONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVg:
SECTIOK l~ A Task Force on the Arts 1S hereby created
i~ the City of Santa Mon~ca.
SECTION 2. The Task Force shall conslst of no less than
7 and no more than 15 persons who reside or work in the C~ty,
and who shall be appo~nted by the City CouncLl. The Task Force
shall include artists of 7aCLOUS art foems, and should Lnclude
patrons of the arts, art merchants, consumecs of art, and
representatives fro~ community organ~zations wh~ch are lnterested
in community arts programa~

SECTION 3~ The TaSK Porce shall exam~ne the need and
4It desirability of establishing a C~ty Commission on the Arts,
the responsibilities and compos~tion of an Arts Ccmm~sslon, the
nature of C~ty staff involvement, and the scope of City budgetary
commitment and aLternative revenue sources to fund a municipal
arts program..
SECTION~. The TaSK Force shall complete ~ts work
no later than January 1, 1982.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall attest to the adoption of
th~s Resolution and thereafter it shall be in full force and
effect ...
