SISTER CITY AFFILIATION WITH FUJINOMIYA, JAPAN
INTRODUCTION:
This report transmits the attached resolution which
formalizes the affillation of Santa Monlca and FUJlnomlya in
the Sister City Program.
BACKGROUND:
The City Councll, at its regular meeting of September
17, 1974, approved a motlon to make FUJinomlya, Japan, a sister
Clty to Santa Monlca. Since that time, members of the City
Council have had occaSlon to meet wlth representatives from
FUJinomiya, and it has been requested that this office prepare
a resolution memorializlng the sister city affillatlon between
these two clties. In addltlon, the resolution ratifles the
agreement of October 12, 1974, between Santa Monica and Fu]inomiya
establishing a sister Clty relationship effective May, 1975,
on the occasion of the lOOth Anniversary of the City of Santa
Monica.
The attached resolutlon which was thereby drafted
15 a formalization of the motion approved by the City Counell
previously and is simllar to the reso1utlon WhlCh was adopted
to make Mazatlan, Mexico, a sister city. Pursuant to the
attached resolution, copies thereof will be sent to the
Fu]inomiya Munlclpal Assembly, the united States Department of

Cal~forn1a C~t1es, as a record of the aff~11ation of the
c1t~es of Santa Monica and Fujinom1ya.

RECOMMENDATION:
It ~s recommended that the C~ty Council adopt the
attached resolut~on to memorialize 1ts decision of September 17,
1974.
