This new work includes technical design completion, preparation of construction documents, and permit coordination that are needed to go to bid for fabrication and installation of the shelters_ Backoround As the entry points to the system, bus shelters are a primary customer interface and are essential elements of any Bus Rapid Transit service. Highly visible and branded bus shelters are important in identifying the bus line as a higher quality service. They are placed at the highest volume stops and therefore used by a great number of passengers, and strengthen the image of the bus service in the community. Each stop will have a built in real-time information sign that is part of the previously approved Advanced Fleet Management System that will inform passengers of the wait time for the next bus.
