If this area is not demolished, this area presents a danger to other portlons of the Pier in the event of future storms. In addition, thlS area presents a hazard to boats and other persons us~ng Santa Monica State Beach. The oral and written staff reports of the Director of Emergency Services will more fully describe the area to be demolished. City Counc~l finds, by an affirmative vote of five of its me~bers, that the work is of urgent necessity for the preservation of life, health, and property. The de~olltion work will not exceed the cost of $100,000. It should be noted that the demolition is a necessary precondltion to any reconstruction of the Pier.
