SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
One (1) New 48,400 Gross Vehicle Weight Rated (GVWR)
Cab and Chassis with 10-Yard Dump Body, Bid #2249
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1)
new 48,400 gross vehicle weight rated (GVWR) cab and chassis with
10-yard dump body for the Water Division, General Services
Department, in the total amount of $66,382.52,
including
applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
September 18 and 19, 1989) to furnish and deliver one (1) new
48,400 gross vehicle weight rated (GVWR) cab and chassis with
10-yard dump body in accordance with city specifications, bids
were received and publicly opened and read on October 17, 1989.
Proposal forms were mailed to ten vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Five proposals were received as follows:

The reason for the w' e spread in the above quoted pri~)due
to the difference n manufacturer. Staff has evaluated the low
bid and finds that it meets city specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1989/90 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Capital Improvement Program budget, Sewer and water
Category, account number 25-760-671-23590-8913-99202, "Purchase
Dump Truck."
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2249 be made to Thorson
GMC Buick in the total amount of $66,382.52, including applicable
tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
