Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a
Memorandum of Understanding with the Society of Public
Attorneys of Santa Monica (SPASM)
INTRODUCTION
This report requests that Council adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing the City Manager to execute a memorandum of
understanding (MOU) with the Society of Public Attorneys of
Santa Monica (hereinafter referred to as SPASM).
BACKGROUND
The MOU with SPASM expired on June 30, 1987. Negotiations to
replace this MOU commenced in April and resulted in the attached
MOU. This new agreement was ratified by the membership of SPASM
on June 30, 1987.
The agreement includes cost of living increases, an increase in
the amount of the City I S deferred compensation match and an
increase in the City "cap" toward medical insurance (the two
latter items will occur in the second year of the contract).

RECOMMENDATIONS
It is recommended that Council adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing the City Manager to execute the attached MOU with the
