Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Execute A
Memorandum of Understanding with the United
Transportation Union Local 1785
INTRODUC'l'ION
This report requests that Council adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing
the
City
Manager
to execute
a memorandum of
understanding (MOU) with the United Transportation Union Local
1785.
BACKGROUND
The MOU with the United Transportation Union Local 1785 expired
June 30, 1986. Negotiations which commenced in April resulted in
the attached MOU.
This new three-year agreement was ratified by
the membership of UTU Local 1785 on July 29, 1986.
This
agreement
increases
uniform
allowance,
provides
for
reimbursement for acquisition of a special license,
"caps"
insurance contributions at $214 per month for the indemnity plan,
establishes a plan to allow for conversion of unused sick leave
to payments of health
1nsurance premiums upon retirement,
eliminates two-tier sick leave accruals in the third year, and
prolongs salary progression and reduces accruals of holidays for
new employees.

The base salary will Increase 6% during the first year, 2% during
year two, and 3% in the final year .of the agreement to reflect
cost-of-living changes.
RECOMMENDATIONS
It is recommended that Council adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing the City Manager to execute the attached MOD with the
United Transportation Union Local 1785.
