SR-506-003-07 (8) EPWM: CP: AA: DB: JC F:\DATA\SPFILES\SP1986/2\cc1986.doc Council Meeting: June 28, 2005 Santa Monica, California To: Mayor and City Council From: City Staff Subject: Award of Professional Services Agreement for the Annual Street & Park Lighting Project Introduction The report recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute a professional services agreement with Reedcorp Engineering, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $415,000 to provide civil and electrical engineering services for the Annual Street & Park Lighting Project. Background The City of Santa Monica?s annual Street & Park lighting rehabilitation program provides circuit conversion from high voltage to multiple (low voltage) circuits throughout the City to provide a safe, metered electrical supply. By properly metering the usage of Southern California Edison power, savings to the City can be realized. In addition, light poles that have been damaged are replaced. Discussion On April 4, 2005, a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) was issued for civil and electrical engineering services for the Annual Street & Park Lighting Project. On April 27, 2005, proposals were received from two firms. Following a review of the proposals, staff from 1 the Environmental and Public Works Management Department recommends Reedcorp Engineering, Inc., as the most capable firm to perform this service. The firm has very successfully provided civil and electrical engineering services on previous City street & park lighting projects. Budget/Financial Impact Funds are available for this project in the amount of $415,000 at account C010724.589000 ?Street & Park Light Retrofit.? Recommendation Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute a professional services agreement with Reedcorp Engineering, Inc., for civil and electrical engineering services in an amount not to exceed $415, 000.
