SUBJECT: Result of Assessment Election for Various Street Improvements on Yale
Street and Adoption of Resolution Establishing the District
Introduction
This report recommends that the City Council accept the certified election result, as
tabulated by the City Clerk, for the creation of an assessment district for various street
improvements on Yale Street, between Montana Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard and
declare that no majority protest exists. This report also recommends that the City
Council direct staff to proceed with the project and adopt the attached resolution.
Background
On March 8, 2005, the City Council held a public hearing for the formation of an
assessment district for various street improvements on Yale Street between Montana
Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard, in accordance with Article XIIID of the California
Constitution.
Discussion
On Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., ballots were opened and tabulated before
the public in the City Clerk's Office. All ballots received prior to the close of the public

hearing held before the City Council on March 8 were counted and weighted according
to the proportional financial obligation of the assessed property. For a property with
frontage of fifty feet, the assessment would be $9,750. A summary of the result is listed

There exists no majority protest. Therefore, staff recommends that Council authorize
staff to proceed with the project and adopt the attached resolution establishing the
district.

Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council:
1. Accept certified election result on the assessment and declare no majority
protest;
2. Adopt the attached resolution establishing this assessment district; and
3. Direct staff to proceed with the project.
