SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Purchase Agreement to Lifeline Ambulance,
Inc. to Furnish and Deliver One Ambulance
Introduction
This report recommends award of a purchase agreement to Lifeline Ambulance, Inc. to
furnish and deliver one ambulance for the Fire Suppression Division of the Fire
Department, in the total amount of $129,810.15, including applicable sales tax.
Background
The Fire Department currently has three identical Paramedic Ambulances in the fleet,
maintaining two units in service twenty-four hours a day with the third unit held in
reserve in the event of a mechanical breakdown or a peak need that would call for an
additional response unit. The requested Paramedic Ambulance will replace a 1996
model that is currently assigned as the ?reserve? unit and is consistent with the
established replacement criteria established for Fire Department Emergency Response
Apparatus. Emergency response apparatus are configured identically to reduce training
time and standardize equipment inventories and storage locations so that field
personnel do not have to relearn storage cabinet configuration each time they work from
a different unit.
