SUBJECT: Proposed Ordinance Prohibiting Smoking On The Santa Monica Beach
and Pier, In Waiting Areas for Public Services, And Within 20 Feet Of
Entrances And Exits To Public Buildings
Introduction
At its meeting on March 23, 2004, the City Council introduced for first reading an
ordinance prohibiting smoking in waiting areas for public services, on the Santa Monica
Beach, on the Pier, except in designated smoking areas, and within 20 feet of entrances
and exits to public buildings.
The ordinance is now presented to the City Council for adoption.
Recommendation
It is respectfully recommended that the accompanying ordinance be adopted.
