SUBJECT: Award Bid to Provide Moving Services for the Main Library, Bid #2854
Introduction
This report recommends award of bid to provide moving services for the Main Library in
the total amount of $136,845.
Background
The Council is considering constructing a new Main Library. If the project is approved, it is
expected to take approximately two years. Moving services are required for the move out
and return move when construction is complete.
Discussion
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published November 8 and 9, 2002) in
accordance with City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on
November 22, 2002. Proposal forms were mailed to eleven vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Four
proposals for move out and move in were received as follows:

Beltmann Group $136,845
Chipman Corporation $160,517
National Library Relocations $253,700
Beverly Hills Transfer & Storage $559,890
Staff has evaluated the bid submitted by Beltmann Group and finds that it meets City
specifications.
Budget/Financial Impact
Budget authority for the move is in the Capital Improvement Budget account number
C01049102.589000, ?Library Expansion and Renovation?.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2854 be made to Beltmann Group as the best
bidder, in the total amount of $136,845.
