SR-901-001-06 RMD:BM:JR:F:RESOURCE/STAFFREPORTS/1828 Ocean Avenue.doc Council Meeting: December 11,2001 Santa Monica, California To: Mayor and City Council From: City Staff Subject: Authorization to Negotiate Terms and Conditions for Acquisition of Real Property Located at 1828 Ocean Avenue Introduction City Council authorization is sought to begin preliminary negotiations of possible terms and conditions for acquisition of the real property located at 1828 Ocean Avenue (?Subject Property?). Discussion Located at the northwest corner of Ocean Avenue and Pico Boulevard, the 44,700 square feet Subject Property is located in the Residential-Visitor Commercial (RVC) District. Negotiations for acquisition of the Subject Property could include terms of a possible trade or sale of the City-owned property (?City Property?) located at 1920 Ocean Avenue, adjacent to the Casa del Mar Hotel. The City Property consists of 23,200 square feet and is zoned R4. Recommendation It is recommended that City Council authorize staff to open preliminary discussions with the owners or representatives of the real property located at 1828 Ocean Avenue for its possible acquisition by the City.
