INTRODUCTION
ThiS report recommends that the City Councrl authonze the City Manager to negotIate and
execute a sole source contract with Western Water Products to purchase a WaterCycle
cartndge fIlter system
BACKGROUND
The Solid Waste DIVIsion prOVIdes pressure washing at several locations In the City
including SIX Bayslde Dlstnst parkIng structures with stallwells, restrooms, refuse bins and
lobbIes, the Third Street Promenade refuse bIn rooms. and bus stops (75-100) throughout
the City
Two one-person crews clean the areas with a truck-mounted pressure-washer whIch
enhances the appearance and creates a cleaner city for residents, VIsitors, and bUSinesses

DISCUSSion
The purchase of a traIler mounted WaterCycle Cartndge FIlter System allows the recovery
and fIltration of waste water generated from the daily cleaning operations The WaterCycle
system IS the only water recovery/filter system that collects the waste water and processes
It through a senes of tanks and fIlters Without the use of chemicals The tanks and filters
Include an 011 coaleSCing and alr/ozonatlon system to reduce chemical oxygen demand
(C 0 D), biological oxygen demand (8 0 0 ) and eliminate vIruses and bactena In the
recycled water Without the use of chemicals The water IS also filtered of particulate matter
The trailer-mounted WaterCycle system would be pulled by the truck carrYIng the pressure-
washing unit and would not reqUire additional staff

Funds for thiS project In the amount of $72,315 are available In CIP account #34-760-661-
20099-8900-99558
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council authOrize the City Manager to negotiate and
execute a soJe source contract WIth Western Water Products to purchase a WaterCycle
cartndge filter system
