City Council approved funding to renovate the City Council Chambers On April 15, 1997, CouncIl authorized the City Manager to negotiate and execute a ProfeSSional Services Agreement with Gruen Associates, to design modIfIcatIons to the Council Chamber that would Improve accesslbilJty, and make the Chambers more welcommg and functional The scope of work Included replacmg the lighting, air conditioning ductmg and controls, and microphones, replaCing Intenor finishes, replacmg Windows, and Installing a fixed projection screen On February 10.1998, City Council authOrized the CIty Manager to expand the scope of deslgn work to Include a more human-scaled dais, Incorporate more effective technology for presentations. Improve the sound system, and Install a voting system that IS vIsible to the audIence In Chambers and those vlewmg meetings on City TV 1 (ot,.
