I ntrod uctlon
This report recommends award of bId to furnish and deliver two new sweeper/scrubbers
for the Street Sweeping/Cleaning DIvIsion, Environmental and Public Works Management
Department In the total amount of $66,21870, mcludlng apphcable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Invltmg BIds (published May 28 and 29, 199B) In
accordance wIth CIty speCIfications, bIds were received and publicly opened and read on
June 23. 1998 Proposal forms were mailed to three vendors and notIces were advertised
In accordance wIth City Charter and MUnicipal Code provISions Three proposals were
receIved as follows

The new sweepers/scrubbers WIll replace two 1993 scrubbers, Unit numbers 15188 & 15189

as part of the VehIcle Replacement Program They wIll be used to scrub sIdewalks, parkIng
structures, alleys and rlght-of-ways m the Bayslde District
Staff recommends propane-powered sweepers Although CNG units are available, there
are no CNG fueling facIlities located at the Promenade, and the sweepers cannot legally be
driven on streets to the local CNG fueling facIlity located at the Southern Callforma Gas
Company Propane powered Units have removable bottles which can be filled at Beach
Mamtenance or the City Yards
Staff has evaluated the low bId and finds that It meets CIty speclflcatrons

Budget, account number 54-710-461-20098-99167, "Fleet Vehicle Replacement Program"
Recommendation
It IS recommended that the award of BId #2696 be made to Yale/Chase rn the total amount
of $60,58752, mcludmg applicable sales tax, as the lowest responsible bidder
