SUBJECT Recommendation to Authorize the City Manager to Negotiate and Execute
a Professlonal ServIces Contract wIth ROMA DesIgn Group for Landscape
and Architectural Services for the Public Safety BUilding SchematiC Design
INTRODUCTION
ThIS staff report recommends that the CIty Council authorize the CIty Manager to negotIate
and execute a contract with ROMA Design Group for landscaping and architectural
services related to the completion of the schematiC design for the Public Safety BUilding
The negotiated fee for thiS contract shall not exceed $49,800, which Includes a twenty
percent contingency
BACKGROUND
Dworsky AssocIates IS completmg the schematIC desIgn for the publIC safety bUIlding,
which Includes the design of the bUilding, public plaza, and OlympiC Drive consistent With
the CIVIC Center SpeCific Plan As part of the schematic design process, It has been
determined that the ROMA Design Group could prOVide valuable Input to the City With
respect to the design of the bUilding and the building's relation to the CIVIC Center area
ROMA Design Group has served as an architectural consultant to Dworsky Associates for
the design of the faCIlity The cost of these services IS $50,000 To continue prOViding the

City with Input as the schematic design IS completed, It IS recommended that ROMA
DesIgn Group provide addlbonal desIgn review servIces In an amount not to exceed
$18,000, which Includes a twenty percent contingency
In addition to providing consultation on the schematic deSIgn, ROMA DeSIgn Group IS
needed to complete the landscape plans for the public plaza and OlympIc Dnve
landscaping The cost for these additional services will not exceed $31,800, which
Includes a twenty percent contingency ROMA DeSign Group IS uniquely qualified to
proVide these servIces since they where the lead consultant In prepanng the CIVIC Center
Specific Plan, and have an understanding of how the deSign of the Public Safety BUilding
landscaping and publiC plaza should be consistent With the Implementation of the Specific
Plan ROMA DeSign group will work closely With Dworsky ASSOCiates so that the design
of the bUIlding, public plaza, and landscaping Will be coordinated and presented as a total
package for approval
BUDGET/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds In the amount of $49,800, which Includes the amount for both deSign review and
landscape architect services With the possibility of a twenty percent contingency, are
available for this analYSIS at account number 01-730-304-20095-8900-99058

RECOMMENDATION
It IS recommended that the City CouncIl authorize the City Manager to negotiate and
execute a professional services contract with ROMA Design Group for an amount not to
exceed $49,800 for landscaping and architectural consulting services related to the Public
Safety BUilding schematiC design, which Includes a twenty percent contingency If
necessary
