Roller with 47" Drum and Trailer, Bid #2629
Introduction
This report concerns an award of bid to furnIsh and deliver one (1) new roller with 47"
drum and trailer for the Street Maintenance DIVIsion, Environmental and Public Works
Department, In the total amount of $36,90676, including applicable sales tax
Backaround
In response to pubhshed Notices InViting Bids (published March 10 and 11, 1997) In
accordance With CIty speCificatIons, bids were received and publicly opened and read on
March 31. 1997 Proposal forms were mailed to SIX (6) vendors and notices were
advertised In accordance With City Charter and MUniCipal Code prOVIsions Two proposals
were received as follows

This Unit will replace three older rollers (1961, 1966 and 1973) which are scheduled for
replacement under the vehicle management program The new 4T' roller will be used on
large resurfacing projects such as application of asphalt on street and alleys Currently,
staff has no roller equipment which can be used for these types of projects The purchase
of thiS diesel powered vehicle IS consistent with the City's reduced emiSSions fuel policy
because thiS speciality vehicle cannot be configured to accept a reduced emisSions fuel
system
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that It meets City speCifications

FIscal Year 1996-97 appropriatIon authority for thIS purchase IS In the CapItal
Improvement Budget, account number 54-710-461-20097-8900-99167, "Fleet Vehicle
Replacement Program"
Recommendation
It IS recommended that the award of Bid # 2629 be made to Ingersol Rand Co In the total
amount of $36,906 76, including applicable tax, as the lowest responsible bidder
