Introduction
This report concerns an award of bid to furnish and deliver two (2) new CNG powered
11,000 GVWR cab and chassIs With two yard dump body for the Water DIvISion,
EnVironmental and PubliC Works Management Department ($40,991 41) and Parks and
Sports DIvISion, Commumty and Cultural Services Department ($40,991 41) for a total
amount of $81,982 82, including applicable sales tax

In response to published Notices InViting Bids (published February 6 and 7, 1997) to
furnIsh and deliver two (2) new CNG powered 11,000 GVWR cab and chassIs With two
yard dump body In accordance With City specificatIons, bids were received and publicly
opened and read on February 20, 1997 Proposal forms were mailed to five vendors
and notices were advertIsed In accordance With City Charter and MUniCipal Code
provIsIons Two proposals were received as follows

These umts will replace older ones In the Water and Parks and Sports DIvIsions as part
of the Vehicle Replacement Program
The bid submitted by Downey Auto Center IS non-responsive They cannot provide a
CNG powered 11,000 GVWR cab and chassIs with a two yard dump body
Staff has evaluated the bId submitted by Maunce J Sopp & Son and finds that It meets
City specifications for a CNG powered Unit
The purchase of these CNG powered umts IS consistent with the City'S reduced
emiSSions fuel policy
Budget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1996-97 appropnatlon authonty for thiS purchase IS In the Capital
Improvement Budget, account number 54-710-461-20097-8900-99167, "Fleet Vehicle
Replacement Program"

Recommendation
It IS recommended that Council reject the bid submitted by Downey Auto and award Bid
#2617 to Maurice J Sopp & Son In the total amount of $81,98282, including applicable
tax, as the most responsible bidder
