SUBJECT: Ordinance Amending Santa Monica Municipal Code Section
3.08.240 to Enlarge Preferential Parking Zone L
INTRODUCTION
At its meeting of December 17, 1996, the City council introduced
for first reading an ordinance amending Municipal Code Section
3.08.240 to enlarge Preferential Parking Zone L. The accompanying
ordinance is now presented to the City Council for adoption.
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the accompanying ordinance be
adopted.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING SANTA MONICA
MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 3.08.240 TO ENLARGE
PREFERENTIAL PARKING ZONE L
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Santa Monica Municipal Code Section 3.08.240 is
amended to read as follows:
section 3.08.240.
Preferential Parking
Zone L.
(a) The area bounded by the following
streets shall constitute Preferential Parking
Zone L:
Ashland Avenue between 23rd street
and Euclid street on the south; Euclid Street
between Ashland Avenue and the Santa Monica
Freeway on the west; the Santa Monica Freeway
between
Euclid
street
and
Cloverfield
Boulevard on the north; Cloverfield Boulevard
between the Santa Monica Freeway and Ocean
Park Boulevard, Ocean Park Boulevard between
Cloverfield Boulevard and 23rd Street, 23rd
street between Ocean Park Boulevard and
Ashland Avenue on the east.
(b) No vehicle shall be parked or
stopped adjacent to any curb in Preferential
Parking Zone L without a permit issued and
displayed in accordance with this Chapter
during the following hours:
( 1) 8 : 00 a . m . to 8 : 00 p . m. on
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of
each week.
(2) 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on
Friday of each week.
(c) Any vehicle parked or stopped
without a permit when required by this section
may be removed from the street by any police
officer.
(d) The annual fee for each permit
issued for Preferential Parking Zone L shall
be $15.00 per permit, or such other fee as may
be established from time to time by resolution
of the City Council.
SECTION 2. Any provision of the Santa Monica Municipal Code
or appendices thereto inconsistent with the provisions of this
Ordinance, to the extent of such inconsistencies and no further, is
hereby repealed or modified to that extent necessary to effect the
provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or
phrase of this Ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or
unconstitutional by a decision of any court of competent
jurlsdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this Ordinance.
The City Council hereby
declares that it would have passed this Ordinance and each and
every section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase not declared
invalid or unconstitutional without regard to whether any portion
of the ordinance would be subsequently declared invalid or
unconstitutional.
SECTION 4.
The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this Ordinance.
The City Clerk shall
cause the same to be published once in the official newspaper
withln 15 days after its adoption.
This Ordinance shall become
effective 30 days from its adoption.
