This report concerns an award of bid to retrofit up to 114 buses WIth fuel tank fillernecks
for the Transportation Department, In the total amount of $44,407 80, including applicable
sales tax
Backaround
In response to pubhshed Notices InViting Bids (published November 6 and 7, 1996) to
retrofit fuel tank fillernecks In accordance WIth CIty speCifications, bIds were received and
publicly opened and read on November 21, 1996 Proposal forms were mailed to five (5)
vendors and notices were advertised In accordance With City Charter and Municipal Code
provIsions Four proposals were received as follows

The fuel tank fillernecks seal the connection between the fueling nozzle and the fuel tank
whIch assures a leak-free fueling system This sealed connection device also prevents
contaminants from entermg the fuel tank and eliminates foaming or hazardous blowbacks
This system replaces one that could not meet their needs.
Staff has evaluated the low bId and finds that It meets City specifications
