SUBJECT Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver Two (2) New MIni
Pickup Trucks, Bid #2609
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver two (2) new gasoline powered
mini pickup trucks for the Parks and Sports DIvISion, Community and Cultural Services
Department, In the total amount of $29,625 86, including applicable sales tax
Background
In response to published Notices InViting Bids (published December 2 and 3, 1996) to
furnish and deliver two (2) new gasoline powered mini pickup trucks in accordance With
City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on December 12,
1996. Proposal forms were mailed to nine (9) vendors and notIces were advertised In
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Five proposals were
received as follows

These Units will be used by Parks Maintenance Supervisors who do field Inspections of
all City parks The purchase of these gasoline powered trucks is consistent With the
City'S reduced emiSSions fuel policy There IS no California Air Resources Board
(CARB) approved conversion kit available for these vehicles at thiS time and there is no
estimate of when a CARB approved conversion kit Will be available to convert the
vehicles to compressed natural gas (CNG)
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that It meets City specifications
Budget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1996-97 appropriation authOrity for thiS purchase IS In the Capital
Improvement Budget, account number 54-710-461-20097-8900-99167, "Fleet Vehicle
Replacement Program."
Recommendation
It IS recommended that the award of Bid #2609 be made to Crenshaw Motors in the
total amount of $26,625 86, including applicable tax, as the lowest responsible bidder.
