INTRODUCTION
ThIS report recommends appomtment of members of a T elecommumcanons \Vorkmg Group
BACKGROUND
CIty Conncll approved undertakIng a Telecommumcanons Master Plan ill the FY 96-97 budget and
awarded a contract to MedIa ConnectIOns Group on November 12, 1996 to aSSIst the CIty m that
regard.
The plan IS mtended to result m polICIes and InIUatIves that ",ill enhance the qualIty of lIfe and
economIC VItalIty 10 Santa MOllIca through the strategIC use of telecommumcatlOns technologIes.
The plan ,vlll idenufy the City' 5 current telecommUnICatIons mfrastructure and needs and detenmne
potentIal roles and partnershIp opportumtIes to meet them The methodology WIll mclude a nght-
of-way analYSIS, a CItYWIde telecommUnICatIOns assessment Wlth the help of an adVISOry commumty
workmg group, identIficatIOn of telecommumcatlOns systems and platforms, fmanCIa!
