SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Materials and Labor to Upgrade parking Structure
Elevators, Bid 2452.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver
materials and labor to upgrade parking structure elevators to
meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act for
the Parking Authority, Land Use and Transportation Management
Department, in the total amount of $40,558.00, including
applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published March
29 and 30, 1993) to furnish and deliver materials and labor to
upgrade the existing downtown parking structure elevators in
accordance with city specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on April 12, 1993. Proposal forms were
mailed to seven vendors and notices were advertised in accordance
with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two proposals
were received as follows:

Amtech Reliable Elevator Company $40,558.00
Viking Elevator Company (WMBE) $50,828.22
These upgrades include installation of braille door jamb platesi
and lowering of call buttons, emergency telephones and handrails
to meet the new A.D.A. requirements.
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets city
specifications.
Budget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1992/93 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Capital Improvements Program Budget, account number
77-770-415-20093-8900-99374, "Parking structure Improvements".
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2452 be made to Amtech
Reliable Elevator Company in the total amount of $40,558.00,
including applicable tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
