SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Provide Landscape
Maintenance, Bid #2455
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to provide landscape
maintenance for a one year period for the Parks and Sports
Division, Community and CUltural Services Department, at
specified monthly rate, including four (4) one-year renewal
options.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published May 7
and 8, 1993) to provide landscape maintenance for a one year
period in accordance with City specifications, bids were received
and publ icly opened and read on May 24, 2993. Proposal forms
were mailed to four vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two
proposals were received as follows:

This contract covers the maintenance of approximately fifty-two
(52) designated sites throughout the City. Due to the large
numbers and isolated nature of these sites, Staff has determined
that it is not efficient to deploy City Parks maintenance crews
to perform these maintenance functions because of time lost in
traveling and moving maintenance equipment from site to site.
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets city
specifications.
Budget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1993/94 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Parks and Sports Division, account number
01-400-511-00000-5501-00000 and Event Facilities Division account
number 32-400-621-00000-5501-00000 of the community and Cultural
Services Department and the Economic Development/Pier Division
account number 30-620-625-00000-3324-00000 of the Resource
Management Department.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2455 be made to
Landscape West Inc. at the specified monthly rate including four
one year renewal options, as the lowest and best bidder.
