BACKGROUND Each year, the MTA (formerly the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission) makes available to local agencies funds specifically for pedestrian and bicycle facilities. These funds, available under Article 3 of the Transportation Development Act (TDA, Article SB 821) , are available to local jurisdictions based upon each City's population proportionate to the total population of Los Angeles County. In FY 1992-1993, the City of Santa Monica received 0.967% or $29,936, of the total funds available. These funds will be held in a reserve account by the MTA until adoption of the Bicycle Master Plan by the city council. The - 1 - 6-D ~nr"} l ""f .,............. I,,("r- _.... .....c ~:. These TDA funds must be claimed for a specific project or placed in a MTA reserve account by July, 1993 or the City will lose the funds. BUDGET/FINANCIAL IMPACT The recommendation presented in this report does not have a budget or fiscal impact. The funds will be held in a reserve account by the MTA until the City adopts the Bicycle Master Plan or designates another eligible use for the funds.
