A Proclamation will be presented naming the week of May 9, 1993, as
Preservation Week in the City of Santa Monica.

WHEREAS, Preservation Week 1993 is being observed and celebrated
throughout the nation during the second week of May; and
WHEREASt the Preservation Week 1993 themet "Preservation and Liv-
able Communities: Make the Connectiont" is a reminder
that historic bUlldings which are preserved enrich the
community and contribute to the livability in Santa
Monica as well as communities across the country; and
WHEREASt Santa Monica landmarks that contribute to the City's
cultural heritage and "make the connection of preserva-
tion in livable communitles" include: City Hallt the
Santa Monica Pier, the Ocean Park Branch LibrarYt Hora-
tio West Court and the Parkhurst BUlldlng; and
WHEREASt these landmarks have been commemorated and recognized by
the City with landmark status.
NOWt THEREFOREt I, JUDY ABDO, Mayor of the City of Santa Monica,
on behalf of the Members of the City Councll. do hereby
proclaim the week of May 9, 1993 to be
PRESERVATION WEEK 1993
in Santa Monica and encourage Santa Monica residents to
tour the designated landmarks and other historic
resources in our community.
