Introduction
This report concerns award of bld to provlde labor to repair
damaged transit coaches for the Transportation Department, at
specified hourly rate..
Backqround
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published May 24
and 2S, 1994) to provlde labor to repalr damaged transit coaches in
accordance wlth City speciflcations, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on June 9, 1994. Proposal forms were
mailed to three vendors and notlces were advertised ln accordance
with City Charter and Municlpal Code provlsions. Two proposals
were received as follows:
VENDOR HOURLY RATE
Smith & Hartford Custom Coach $25.00
Complete Coach Works $26.40
The GMC and MCI Classic Buses require repair to rusted and damaged
areas to prevent further deterioration to these buses.

Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets C~ty
specifications.
Budget/Flnancial Impact
Appropriatlon authority for thlS purchase is in the Capltal
Improvement Program budget, account number 41-750-657-20094-8900-
99106, Bus Component Replacement Program.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2494 be made to Smith &
Hartford Custom Coach at specified hourly rate, as the lowest and
best bidder.
