Backqround On October 9, 1979, City Council approved a sidewalk repair program which provided for property owner participation in the cost of repairing damaged sidewalks. Residential property owner participation is 50% of the cost of the repairs if the damage is related to tree roots, and the City paying the remaining 50% of the repair costs. A public hearing to confirm the assessment of costs must be held pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 22, sections 5600 to 5630, of the streets and Highways Code of the state of California. A Resolution setting the public hearing for 6:30 p.m. on August 9, 1994, is attached. All affected property owners will be notified of the public hearing date and the assessment amount fifteen (15) days prior to the public hearing. A list of property owners and assessment amounts will be available to Council at the time of the public hearing. Budqet/Financial Impact The financial calculation, which will indicate total revenues to be derived from this assessment district over the next two years, will be presented to the City council at the time of public hearing. Recommendation It is recommended the City Council adopt the attached Resolution setting a public hearing on August 9, 1994, to confirm the assessment of costs of the repair of damaged sidewalks, driveways, curbs, and the removal of damaged pavement in the parkway areas for the above-cited properties.
