Introduction
This report concerns an award of bid to furnish and deliver Marlex Double Wall two-yard bin
lids - model 3142R for the Solid Waste DIVIsion, Environmental and Public Works
Management Department, at specified unrt prices, Including applicable sales tax The
estimated annual cost IS approximately $35,000 00
Backwound
These double wall plastrc lids Will replace lids which are broken or beyond repair. Refuse bm
service vanes from dally to tWice weekly which causes substantial wear and tear on the bin
lids. The double wall plastiC lid IS stronger and more durable than a Single wall lid The life
expectancy of the lids IS one to four (1-4) years Rotonlcs Molding Industries IS the sole
source manufacturer of thiS type of lid for two cubiC yard refuse bins. No other manufacturer
makes thiS type of lid.
Ordmance number 1743 (CCS), Section 5, paragraph 2 24.080 of the Santa MOnica MUniCipal
Code allows exception to competitive bidding when Items are purchased from a sole source
manufacturer
