SUBJECT: Recommendation to Allocate Additional Funds For Remodellng And
Renovation Of VarlOUs City Hall Office Spaces
lntroductlon
This report requests that the City Councll allocate $50,000 to complete the
remodellng of varlOUS City offlces.
Background
Durlng the 1989-90 budget process, the City Counc11 approved a multl-pronged
approach to deal with the severe space problems of several Clty departments.
This plan included mov1ng several departments off-site as well as relocat1ng
and consolldating Community Development, City Attorney and Rent Control
operatlons in C1ty Hall.
As part of the plan, on October 23, 1990, the City Councll awarded a
constructlon contract to Noel Tomberlin, general contractor, to renovate
offices in the old Finance/Rlsk Management area for use by the Department of
Commun1ty and Economlc Development.
Flnal refinement of the space plan has necessitated some addltlonal
modlflcations. ThlS work includes installatlon of floorlng, cabinets, doors,
wlndows and electncal fixtures for the second floor and the relocatlon and
renovat10n of space for Senlor SerVlces and the Arts Dlvlslon.

Recommendat1ons
It 1S recommended that the City Counell:
1. Allocate additional funds 1n the amount of $ 50,000 for remodellng of
City offices.
2. Author1ze the City Eng1neer to issue any necessary change orders and
complete additional work in conformance with the Adm1nistrative
Instruction on change orders.
