RECOMMENDATION TO APPROVE SANTA MONICA COLLEGE
GRAND SU~~ER NIGHTS FIREWORKS DISPLAY
INTRODUCTION
This report recommends that the city Council approve Santa Monica
College's request for fireworks for their "Grand Summer Night's"
program on June 29, 1991.
DISCUSSION
At its meeting of October 11, 1983, the city COllncil established
the policy that, aside from the municipally sponsored Fourth of
July fire'''orks, Council approval ,,,"QuId be required for special
fireworks events.
For its "Grand Summer Nights" concert program on June 29, 1991,
Santa Monica College would like to end the program with a fifteen
(l5) minute firevlOrks display in conjunction with the concert
being held in the Santa Monica College Stadium.
The concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
lO:OO p.m..
The
fireworks display would begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. and end
at 9:45 p.m. in the stadium.
Zambelli International will provide
the displays for the program.

BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no budgetary/financial impact with this request. Santa
Monica College will pay all related inherent costs.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends that city council approve Santa Monica College's
request for fireltlOrks for the "Grand Summer Nights" concert
program on June 29, 1991.
