SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish Portable welding
Services, Bid 2354
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish portable welding
services for the Water/Wastewater Division, General Services
Department, at a specified hourly labor rate for a one-year
period with two one-year renewal options.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published May 3
and 6, 1991) to furnish portable welding services in accordance
with City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened
and read on May 14, 1991. Proposal forms were mailed to five
vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with City
Charter and Municipal Code provisions.
Two proposals were
received as follows:
Paul's Welding (WMBE)
Anderson welding (WHBE)
$37.00/hour
$50.00/hour

staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1991/92 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Water/Wastewater Division, General Services Department,
account numbers 31-500-661-00000-5501-00000 in the amount of
$10,000.00 and 25-500-671-00000-5501-00000 in the amount of
$30,000.00.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2354 be made to Paul's
Welding at a specified hourly rate for a one-year period with two
one-year renewal options, as the lowest and best bidder.
