SUBJECT: Retirement and Disposition of police Service Dog
Introduction
This report concerns the retirement of "Renko,1I a police service
Dog who has given three years of distinguished service to the
city of Santa Monica.
Background
Approximately three years ago, the city of Santa Monica
purchased a police service dog named "Renko. II "Renko" was
assigned to Officer Jeffrey Baker. Officer Baker will no longer
be working the Canine team and the dog normally stays with the
handler. Once a dog is trained to work with an officer it cannot
be retrained to work with another officer.

In view of Officer Baker's departure from the Canine team, it is
recommended that police service Dog "Renko" be sold to Officer
Baker for the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) .
