Introduction This report recommends that city Council authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute a contract with containerized Chemical Disposal, Inc. in the amount of $55,000 to provide hazardous waste transportation and recycling/disposal services. Background The City of Santa Monica generates regulated hazardous waste on a continuous basis from the emergency response, in-house activities and Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility. state and federal regulations require that hazardous wastes from emergency responses and in-house activities be stored at City facilities for no longer than 90 days. Hazardous wastes must be transported and then recycled/disposed by a State-certified and permitted company. Staff has reviewed proposals from four companies to provide these services. Based upon a compliance audit, competitive pricing and safety record, staff has determined Containerized Chemical Disposal, Incorporated, to be the best company to provide these services. ~his contract will run thru June 30th, 1991.6 ' L - 1 - no;;; M " C) ') ~ ;__,11 . . Recommendation staff requests that city Council authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute a contract with containerized Chemical Disposal, Inc. for hazardous waste transportation and recycling/disposal services in the amount of $55,000.
