BACKGROUND On February 10, 1987, the City Council approved the formation of an assessment district for street resurfacing, gutter installation, and tree planting for Colorado Avenue between Fourteenth street and Twentieth street. commercial and industrial property owners only will be assessed. The assessments will be as follows: $9.50 per lineal foot for gutters construction $7.50 per lineal foot for street resurfacing $3.00 per front footage for tree planting. 6-c. 2 .~ 1Oq, APR . v "b - 1 - . w . . property owners were notified in accordance with State law and the pUblic hearing was held on March 10, 1987. After closing the publlC hearing, the Council ordered the work to commence. The work has been completed and commercial and industrial property owner assessments are now due. A public hearing to confirm the assessments must be held pursuant to section 5882 of the California streets and Highways Code. The attached resolution sets the public hearing for May 28, 1991. Commercial and industrial property owners will be notified of the date and assessment amount fifteen days prior to the public hearing. A list of property owners and assessments will be available to Council at the time of the public hearing. Scholl, Director of General Services Dave Britton, Acting city Engineer Attachment: Resolution for Adoption - 3 - , . . ~ -t RESOLUTION NO. 8210(CCS) (CITY COUNCIL SERIES) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING FOR MAY 28, 1991 TO HEAR ANY PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS TO THE CONFIRMATION OF ASSESSMENT OF COSTS FOR GUTTER INSTALLATION, STREET RESURFACING, AND TREE PLANTING ON COLORADO AVENUE BETWEEN FOURTEENTH STREET AND TWENTIETH STREET THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION l. The Superintendent of Streets will fl1e a report of work pursuant to Section 5882 of the streets and Highways Code of the State of California, relating to the construction of certain improvements completed on Colorado Avenue between Fourteenth Street and Twentieth Street within the City of Santa Monica. SECTION 2. Pursuant to Section 5870 et seq. of said Code, the city Council does hereby order and declare that on the 28th of May, 1991, at 7:30 p.m., in the city Council Chambers of city Hall, it will hear and pass upon the report by the Superintendent of Streets, of the cost of construction together with any objections or protests, if any, which may be raised by any property owner liable to be assessed for the cost of such construction and any other interested persons. SECTION 3. All protests or objections must be in writing and filed with the City Clerk on or before the time set for the hearing of the protests and objections. - 4 - . . - SECTION 4. The Superintendent of streets is hereby directed to mail notices, in the manner and form prescribed by law, of the cost of construction and of the adoption of this Resolution to all persons owning commercial or industrial real property in the hereinbefore described assessment district whose names and addresses appear on the last equalized assessment roll for the City taxes or as known to the City Clerk.
