SR-6-G (121) . - ' ~ -. . . 6-G GS:SES:RDB:DA:caJ [CCI221) MAR ? ~ 199\ Council Meeting: March 26, 1991 Santa Monlca, California TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: City Staff SUBJECT: Recommendation to Allocate Additional Funds For Remodeling And Renovation Of Various City Hall Office Spaces Introductlon This report requests that the City Council allocate an additional $100,000.00 to complete the first and second floor remodeling of City Hall. ~ackground During the 1989-90 budget process, the City Council approved a multi-pronged approach to deal with the severe space problems of several City departments. This plan included moving several departments off-site as well as relocating and conso11datlng Community Development~ City Attorney and Rent Cont ro 1 operatlons 1n City Hall. As part of the plan, on October 23, 1990, the City Counc i 1 awarded a construction contract to Noel Tomberlin, general contractor, to renovate offices 1n the old Finance/Risk Management area for use by the Department of Community and EconomlC Development. Subsequent to approval of the construction contract, the Community and Economic Development Department was reorganized to form two separate departments: the Community Development Department and the land Use and Transportat 1 on Management Department. ThlS organizational change has necessitated the modification of the original plans to incorporate additional work. Recommendations It is recommended that the Clty Council: 1. Allocate additional funds in the amount of $100tOOO.OO for remodeling to the City Hall first and second floors and 2.
