SUBJECT: Recommendation To Award A Contract To Remodel The Restroom/Shower
Facilities At Memorlal Park
Introduction
This report recommends that the City Council award a contract for the
construction of an addition and remodeling of the restroom/shower facllltles
at Memori a 1 Park to Max Construction Company, the lowest responsible bldder,
in the amount of $57,495.00.
Background
During the 1990-91 budget process, Clty Councll approved fund i ng to exp and,
remodel and refurbish the restroom and shower facil ities at Memorial Park.
There are currently four (4) showers at Memorl a 1 Park. Th is proj ect Wlll
1 ncrease the number of showers to eight (8) . The restrooms wlll also be
modlfied to provide for handlcap accessibility. Thi s project wlll greatly
lmprove the quality of these facillties for users of Memorial Park.
A Not i ce Inviting Bids was published on February 11 and 12, 1991, in the
Evening Outlook, four construction Journal s, and was sent to elght WMBE
associations. Pl ans and Specifications were issued to twelve (12)
contractors. Bids were recelved and read publlcly on March 18, 1991 , by the
Deputy City Clerk. Six (6) bids were received as follows:

references. All references reported that the contractor1s work was

Recommendations
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Award a contract to remodel the restroom/shower fac1l1t1es at
Memori a 1 Park to Max ConstructlOn, the lowest respons1ble
b1dder, in the amount of $57,495.00; and
2. Authorize the C1ty Eng1neer to 1ssue any necessary change
orders to complete additional work in conformance with the
Administrative Instructions on change orders.
