SUBJECT: Recommendation To Award A Contract To Construct An Add,tion To and
Remodeling of The Woodlawn Cemetery Maintenance BUlldlng.
Introduction
This report recommends that the C,ty Counc1l award a contract for the
construction of an add,t1on to and remodeling of the Woodlawn Cemetery
Ma,ntenance Build,ng to Axis Construction, Inc. the lowest respons,ble
b,dder, 1n the amount of $166,500.00 .
Background
Dur1ng the 1990-91 budget process, City Council approved funding to construct
an add,t10n, refurbish and remodel the Woodlawn Cemetery Maintenance Bu,ld,ng.
This was based on the poor condition of the eX1sting maintenance fac,llt,es
and the need for an enclosed area to repa1r and mainta1n the Cemetery
equipment.
A Not,ce lnvit i ng Bids was publ i shed on February 15 and 16, 1991, 1 n the
Evening Outlook, four construction Journals, and was sent to e1ght WMBE
associations. Plans and Specif1 catlOns were 1 ssued to twelve con tractors.
B,ds were recelVed and read publ,cly on March 18, 1991, by the Deputy C1 ty
Clerk.

Recommendations
It 1S recommended that the City Council:
1. Award a contract to construct an addition to and remodel1ng of
the Woodlawn Cemetery Maintenance Building to Axis Construction)
Co., the lowest respons1ble bidder, in the amount of $166,500
and;
2. Authorize the City Engineer to issue any necessary
change orders to complete extra work in conformance w1th the
Admin1strative Instructions on change orders.
