SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Toilet Paper, Seat Covers and Paper Towels, Bid 2324
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver toilet
paper, seat covers and paper towels at specified unit prices,
plus applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
January 7 and 8, 1991) to furnish and deliver toilet paper, seat
covers and paper towels in accordance with city specifications,
bids were received and publicly opened and read on February 5,
1991. Proposal forms were mailed to twenty-two vendors and
notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and
Municipal Code provisions. six proposals were received as
follows:

The items covered by this bid include various types/sizes of
paper towels, seat covers and toilet paper. Bidders were
encouraged to submit bids for products containing recycled
materials. The low bid submitted by unisource is manufactured
with recycled paper content. Upon request from the user
departments, these items will be dispensed. Staff has evaluated
the low bid and finds that it meets City specifications.
Budget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1990/91 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the maintenance accounts of various departments. As the
materials are drawn out of inventory, they will be expensed
against available FY 1990/91 appropriation authority. For the
period July 1, 1991 through June 30, 1992, appropriation
authority will be as set forth in the FY 1991/92 budget.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2324 be made to
unisource at specified unit prices, plus applicable tax, as the
lowest and best bidder.
