SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Provide Trimming of
Ficus and Podacarpus Trees, Bid #2322
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to provide trimming of Ficus
and Podacarpus Trees for the Parks Division, Cultural and
Recreation Services Department,
at specified unit prices,
including two one-year renewal options.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
December 11 and 12, 1990) to provide trimming of Ficus and
Podacarpus trees in accordance with City specifications, bids
were received and publicly opened and read on January 8, 1991.
Proposal forms were mailed to fourteen vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Seven proposals were received as follows:

staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications. Staff has checked the references and finds the
low bidder to be a reputable company.
Budget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1990/91 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Parks Division,
Cul tural and Recreation Services
Department, account number 01-400-512-00000-5501-00000. For the
period July 1991, through June 30, 1992, appropriation authority
will be as set forth in the fiscal year 1991/92 budget.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2322 be made to Davey
Tree Surgery Company at specified unit prices, including two
one-year renewal options, as the lowest and best bidder.
