Introduction
This report concerns rejection of all blds to furnish and deliver
one (1 ) new 29,000 GVWR cab and chassis with 32 gallon container
curbside collection type body and semi-automatic bln dumpers for
the Recycling Dlvision, Envlronmental and Publlc Works Management
Department.
Background
In response to publ~shed Notlces Invitlng Bids (published April 15-
17, 1995) to furnlsh and deliver one (1) new 29,000 GVWR cab and
chassls with 32-gallon contalner, curbside collection type body and
seml-automatic bin dumpers In accordance with City specifications,
blds were recelved and publlcly opened and read on May 4, 1995.
Proposal forms were malled to flve vendors and notices were
advertlsed in accordance wlth City Charter and Munlcipal Code
provisions. Three proposals were received as follows:

Staff has evaluated the bids and flnd that the diesel powered unlt
offered cannot be configured to accept a reduced emlssions fuel and
lS lnconsistent with the City's reduced emissions fuel POllCY.
Budget/FinanClal Impact
ThlS recommendation does not have a budget or financlal impact.
Recommendation
It 18 recommended that all blds be reJected and staff be dlrected
to negotiate with manufacturers regardlng the construction of an
alternate fuel vehicle.
