SUBJECT Recommendation to Reject All Bids to Furn~sh and Deliver
One (I) New Dump Truck - Front Loader, B~d #2522.
Introduction
This report concerns rejection of all bids to furnish and deliver
one (1 ) new dump truck-front loader for the Water Division,
Environmental and Publ~c Works Management Department.
Backqround
In response to publlshed Notlces Invitlng Bids (published April 4,
5, 1995) to furnish and deliver one (1 ) dump truck-front loader ln
accordance wlth CJ.ty speclflcat~ons, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on June 20, 1995. Proposal forms were
mailed to TIJ.ne vendors and notlces were advertised in accordance
with City Charter and Municipal Code prOV1Slons. Three proposals
were received as follows:
Diesel Powered
Carmenita Truck Center $ 78,690.17
South Coast Peterbilt $ 83,134.00
Mack Trucks of So. California $101,493.23
Staff has evaluated the bids and finds that the dJ.esel powered unJ.t
offered cannot be configured to accept a reduced em~ssions fuel and
is inconsistent with the City's reduced emlssions fuel policy. t:> ~

Recommendation
It J.s recommended that all bids be reJected and staff be directed
to negotiate with manufacturers regarding the constructJ.on of an
alternate fuel vehicle.
