C~ty Staff SUBJECT: Recommendatlon to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver Various Alkaline Batteries, Bld #2532 Introduct~on ThlS report concerns award of bld to furnlsh and del~ver various alkaline batteries at specified unit prices, plus applicable sales tax, with two one-year renewal options. Backqround In response to published Notices Inv~ting Blds (published May 16 and 1 7 , 1995) to furnish and deliver various alkallne batteries ln accordance with City specificatlons, bids were recelved and publicly opened and read on June 1, 1995. Proposal forms were mailed to five vendors and notices were advert~sed in accordance with City Charter and Mun~cipal Code provisions. Three proposals were received as shown lTI the attached tabulatlon The ltems lncluded in thlS bid are varlOUS alkaline batteries used by Clty departments to power assorted radio and electronlc equipment. House of Batterles was the low bidder on flve of the seven items. Staff has revlewed the proposals and finds that lt would not be economically feasible to SpIlt the bid award. Staff has evaluated the bld submitted by House of Batteries and finds that it meets Clty specificatlons JUN 2 7 1995 - 1 - 6K j . Budget/Financial Impact F1scal Year 1995/96 appropr1ation authority for th1S purchase 1S in the ma1ntenance accounts of var10US departments. As the materials are drawn out of inventory, they will be expensed against ava1lable FY 1995/96 appropriat1on authority Recommendatlon It 1S recommended that the award of Bid #2532 be made to House of Batteries at specif1ed unit prices, plus appl1cable sales tax, with two one-year renewal opt1ons, as the lowest and best b1dder.
