Introduction
Th1s report concerns award of bid to furnish and del1ver one (1 )
Industr1al 1250 Brush Chipper for the Parks and Sports Division,
Commun1ty and Cultural Services Department, in the total amount of
$21,144.63, includ1ng app11cable sales tax.
Background
In response to publ1shed Notices Inviting B1ds (published March 29 and
30, 1994) to furnish and deliver one (1) Industrial 1250 Brush Chipper,
in accordance w~th C2ty specifications, bids were received and publicly
opened and read on April 14, 1994. Proposal forms were mailed to four
vendors and notices were advertised 10 accordance with Clty Charter and
Municipal code provisions. Two proposals were received as follows

This chipper wlIl be used to chip trees, limbs, palm fronds, and to
brush debris from City parks and streets. The purchase of this diesel
powered vehicle is consistent with the City's reduced emlssions fuels
policy. This specialty vehicle was exempt from the reduced emissions
fuels pollcy because it could not be configured to accept a reduced
emissions fuel.
Staff has evaluated the low bld submitted by Vermeer California, Inc.
and flnds that it meets City speclfications.
Budqet/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1993-94 approprlation authority for this purchase is in the
Capltal Improvement Program Budget, IITree Maintenance Equipment
Upgrade II , account number 01-740-511-20094-8900-99514.
Recommendatlon
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2488 be made to Vermeer
California Inc. In the total amount of $21,144.63, including applicable
tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
